I selected an Ecogear Mini Tank in Pink mounted on a size 8 Shirasu head, and hopped it very slowly across the bottom where I had seen the Cat food (Rudd/Roach) erupting from the surface upon arrival, expecting the small Perch that others had reported catching.
To my disbelief, this aggressive lump sucked up my tiny creature bait as it hit the bottom, and my PB Perch was soon in my hands!
...I would like to point out here that when one is fighting line taking fish, there is little time for chasing tiddlers, whose lengths seem to add up phenomenally fast! Well, that's my lame excuse anyway. Simon took the victory this time by about a metre if I remember correctly (next year it's mine!).
At one point there was a long gap of silence and anticipation as no fish exploded from the surface, so I swapped over to an Ecogear ZX vibe - partly just wanting to try it out, but also to see if it could tempt me a Tiger. When fishing slowly, with a minimal amount of vibration coming from it, the bites came in, but when brought in at an aggressive pace it seemed to have the opposite effect, causing fish in it's path to leap from the water in an attempt to escape what they must have seen as a threat.
Until next time,
