Another thing I like about these stream Brown Trout, is the incredible fight they put up relative to their size. Its pretty obvious really, take a fish that is designed to cope with the very fastest flowing water, and put it somewhere with a gentle flow, and its a totally overpowered eating machine (complete with slime)!
Fish like this fight extremely hard for their size, and are really great fun on LRF kit - especially when sight fishing with shallow diving plugs!
My weapon of choice for a lot of my Trout fishing is the Ecogear SX 40F - by far the sexiest lure in my tackle box, this 2.5 gram shallow diving micro plug, is not only great fun to fish with, but I've found it to also be very effective - especially on freshwater predators.
The main reason this plug is still in my bag of weapons after countless sessions and fish, is simply because it floats! I just flick it out a few metres, then allow it to float down stream, giving it the occasional twitch to regain contact. This of course also imitates a small injured fish fighting the current which entices lots of bites, and keeps me away from overhead snags, such as trees.
