The next species is one that managed to avoid me for quite some time. I only nabbed one of these on a lure a couple of weeks back which brought me up to 47 species, drawing exactly with Will. On this day however, it was species number two!
On my first drop with it I watched as a 2lb-ish Wrasse came up and engulfed the lure, but due to a shockingly bad knot, that battle ended with a snap and not a smile. There was nowhere for the fish to tangle or bury itself, which almost makes it worse because it would have been such an easy fight. A massive school boy error which I'll avoid happening again by using the Uni Knot over the Improved Blood Knot every time!
Eventually I found one pool which was home to two small Common Benny's, and this was actually the one I would least expect to have found them in. I thought it would contain nothing as it was very shallow - even for a rock pool, so I was quite surprised to bring out two small Blennies from it.
